July Newsletter

Dear friends,

Summer is finally here! Congratulations to all of the students who have finished the school year; particularly, the students who have recently graduated from public and high school! I hope you have a fun and safe summer! To make most of the summer break, I encourage everyone to consider some of the great family activities in Ward 10 happening at Village Green Church, Forest Edge Community Pool, Woodcrest Pool, Westmount Presbyterian Church, and Westview Baptist Church. I have listed some events taking place there below.

The next Ward 10 meeting is happening on Wednesday, August 3 at 6:00 PM at Westmount Public Library. We will have experts on street calming, who will be talking about issues such as how to request street bumps on your street, among others.

As the warm weather is here, I wanted to talk a bit about lawn maintenance. The way in which you water your lawn is just as important as how often and how much you water your lawn. It is important to choose the right irrigation system for your landscape. Most yards and gardens in London are over water by at least 50%! Due to this, I wanted to list some tips:

1. Water your lawn and garden only when necessary and according to municipal by-laws.
2. Purchase a rain gauge to determine how much rain or irrigation your yard has already received each week.
3. Look for signs of overwater such as leaves turning yellow or lighter green, or algae and fungi growth
4. Water your plants deeply but less frequently to create healthier and stronger landscapes

Please take a look at the City of London website for more tips!

As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I wish everyone a happy and fun July and look forward to connecting again soon!

Kind Regards,

Virginia Ridley
