I first met Virginia Ridley through work she was doing as a councillor with Internationally trained medical graduates (ITMG) in her community. I was impressed by how in depth she understood the issues, and her dedication to help. I admire Virginia’s commitment to her community, her perseverance and her ability to connect with people from diverse communities and to hard work. I have stayed in touch with Virginia over the years, following her political career, and can tell you that electing Virginia Ridley is the best choice for Londoners. She will represent the community well, with compassion and integrity.

I’ve met Virginia during her first campaign. She gave the impression of someone who truly cares about her community and promised to be there to support and advocate for the residents of Ward 10 and beyond. I voted for her then and will do it again. Virginia is truly “present” in our community. She is available, approachable and dedicated to help with issues big and small. She is a forward thinking council member who works hard to inform and involve her constituents on all the challenges and issues our city faces.

I value my right to vote and for that reason I will be voting for Virginia Ridley as Ward 10 City Councillor. Virginia is a very proactive Ward 10 representative. She has demonstrated excellent first-hand knowledge of local government. She shares many of my values, for her family, neighbours and newcomers to our community.

I first met Virginia over five years ago when my business “For the Love of Art” was only a vision on paper. She was very supportive, and her enthusiasm help me push my dream forward. As business owner and a constituent of ward 10 I am confident to reach out to Virginia for advice or concerns regarding our neighbourhood.

It was great pleasure for to ask Virginia to cut the ribbon at our Grand opening of the new art facility at 725 Notre Dame Drive this May. I would describe Virginia as approachable, a good listener, and genuinely committed to her constituents.

As a local business owner, and long time resident of London, I can say that Virginia has been an excellent council representative for our city, especially during the biggest opportunities and challenges facing our city’s future.

She’s been an excellent advocate for london and for her ward. She asks the tough questions, she does her homework and really engages her community to better understand the issues that we are all facing.

Virginia: best wishes in October – I hope to see you re-elected and serving council, continuing to do the hard work and serving our city.

I have contacted Virginia several times over the past 2 winters with concerns about snow removal. Last winter the snow plow caught a drain hole cover and gouged the road on our court. This narrowed the driving area substantially. I emailed Virginia, later that same day there were city work crews on our court fixing the damage to the road. I have been impressed with Virginia’s response time to these types of concerns.

The three times I have reached out to Virginia for infrastructure related issues in our ward she was exceptionally approachable, responsive, and saw that the issues were addressed very quickly.

One evening, after 7pm, I emailed her to say there was glass along ours and the next road. Just after 7am the NEXT morning the street sweeper was on our street clearing it up! She has made me care about municipal politics but I know that she cares about us! Incredibly transparent as well, which is so important in an elected position.

Four years ago I was asked by a member to meet with someone he felt was worthy of my (and my organization’s) support in her bid for a seat on council. She was described as “the real deal” meaning someone honest and of high moral character wiling to do the job properly and with the highest level of integrity. Her name is Virginia Ridley and I can honestly say she is the real deal and has done her job with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. City council both here and elsewhere need more like her.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Virginia Ridley 4 years ago as a green inexperienced City Councillor.

We have lived at our current address for the past 17 years and after moving in became aware of a serious water problem from our new subdivision plus we drained the park behind or home into our back yard.

The previous councillor did absolutely nothing in trying to assist with our problem. Would not pay us a visit to hear our issues.

That all changed with Councillor Ridley. One phone call is all it took for her to come to our home; listen and actually see the problem.

Seeing our water problem first hand was all that was required for the problem to be corrected. Why did it take a new administration for people to listen?

Virginia cares about her City and more importantly her ward. The list is numerous for what she has done in our neighborhood, from helping eliminate a drug and alcohol problem next to our property to having her whole family assist in a spring clean up in our local park.

I like that this is her full time job. I’m sure if you calculated the number of hours spent helping the City and what their current remuneration is she would be working for less than minimum wage and she is prepared to do it for another 4 years.

Hats off to Virginia Ridley. She will certainly get our vote in this election.

I support Virginia Ridley because she is a very realistic councillor; she knows that she cannot make everyone happy but she works to make as many people happy as she can in Ward 10. And not only does she care about her own Ward, but she cares about all Londoners across the spectrum, including students – whether those from London, or those temporarily here to study. When I needed some hands-on experience to supplement my education, Virginia was very keen on providing that practical experience to me by mentoring me in her office. She also allowed me to participate in additional events and meetings to enrich my experience. I know that when making council decisions, Virginia has everyone’s best interests in mind and I don’t doubt that the best way one can vote is for Mrs. Ridley.

Before she was elected in 2014, I had the privilege of serving alongside Virginia on the Board of Directors of a community non-profit. In addition to working full-time and having a young family, Virginia volunteered her time to make a real difference in her neighbourhood. That dedication has carried through in her role as Ward 10 Councillor for the past four years.

Virginia promised and delivered a complete turnaround in the relationship between Ward 10 residents and their City Councillor. She acts ethically and with integrity, avoiding scandal and sensationalism. She is respectful of Londoners and of her fellow members of City Council. She believes in openness and transparency of government, and in following due process. She understands that taxpayers expect and deserve to be treated with respect and consideration for their concerns and values. She recognizes the need to invest in infrastructure and community projects while remaining fiscally responsible. She responds, usually within a few hours, to each and every question or opinion. She has set the bar higher than anyone, in terms of actively seeking community input, whether by mail or email, phone or social media, by survey, or at any of the frequent Ward 10 community meetings she hosts. Virginia makes carefully considered decisions based on as much information as possible, gathered from all sides and stakeholders of an issue. She takes the time to understand the challenges faced and the work done by City staff, much of it behind the scenes and not necessarily understood or appreciated by the majority.
